9 Tishrei 5787

I find myself looking for the clarity of my soul through the dross of life. The mistakes. The willful harms. The quiet buildup of years. From whence do I come?

Then I remember something simple.

There is a part of me that is still whole. Clean. Connected. The bond between my soul’s essence and Hashem does not break. On Yom Kippur we are asked to return to that knowing — that we are not far from the One, even when we have wandered.

The choice is whether I will love myself and the God within me. That is the return. After sinning, so to speak, we come back by choosing love again.

What is that love? Connection to the Heavens above. To Creation. To beauty and honor in the form of you. Do not let the whispers of hate win in the spiritual battle we live in. Hold to the love coming from you, and from our Heavenly Father.

The bond will never break.

So return. To Love. To Oneness. To the whole of Divine Creation. Love yourself through forgiveness. Meet your own intent to unify with compassion.

All is well.

Atonement is At-One-Ment: becoming at one with the One. It is both the essence of the bond and the work of connecting to Hashem. Hard as the day can feel, the way home is near.
