Where This Began

I didn't set out to build a website. I set out to find my voice.

For a long time, I felt it slipping away, drowned out in relationships, in rooms where I couldn't quite make myself heard. I knew I had something to offer: a love of wisdom, a deep well of compassion, and a bone-deep belief that life, even in its most painful chapters, holds beauty worth finding.

I lost my daughter, Ariana. And in that loss, the kind that reshapes everything, I discovered that grief and joy are not opposites. They live together. They have to. And learning to hold both has become the heart of everything I write.

Shira Illuminates was born from that learning.

This space is for the grieving and the searching. For those who are curious about Torah, Kabbalah, and the ancient wisdom that has carried Jewish souls through centuries of darkness and light. For anyone who has ever felt unseen, unheard, or simply alone in what they are carrying.

You don't have to know anything about Judaism to be here. You only have to be willing to look for the beauty.

I write every week, reflections, stories, wisdom, and honest pieces from my own journey. My hope is that something here meets you where you are. That you leave feeling a little less alone, a little more seen, and maybe, just maybe, more curious about what joy can look like on the other side of pain.

This is not a perfect place. But it is a kind one.

Welcome. I'm so glad you found your way here.
